A functional resume focuses on the skills and experiences that make someone a strong candidate for a position. Unlike other resumes, the functional resume does not necessarily display work history chronologically.

Instead, it focuses on the skills you have developed that fit the requirements of the job for which you are applying. These kinds of resumes are ideal for people who are switching careers, are new to the field, or have gaps in their employment histories.
